simple dessert perf for the holidays!

THE RECIPE:

yields abt 8 trees

prep time: 15 min

total time (including cooling): 35 min

ingredients

1 medium sized apple

2/3 cup caramel chips (i used the ones from trader joes which are NOT vegan but there are vegan ones on amazon)

2 tbsp coconut oil

(optional) sea salt for topping

instructions

1. In a small bowl microwave together the caramel chips and coconut oil in 30 second increments, mixing in between until smooth, set aside

2. Cut the apple in vertical slivers then start assembling the trees by slicing pieces and placing them on top of each other, getting smaller as you go up

3. Use the caramel as a glue between each apple layer, and place the finished product on a plate lined with parchment paper, freeze for 15 minutes

4. Remove from the freezer and dip each tree into the caramel mixture, tapping off the excess with a fork, and place it back onto the parchment, freeze for another 5 minutes, sprinkle with sea salt, and enjoy! (best stored in fridge)
